In March 2025, Tsinghua University initiated a pioneering Digital Heritage Project, reaffirming its leadership in the field of cultural preservation and digitization. As part of this initiative, a collaborative partnership has been established with the Directorate General of Archaeology & Museums, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to introduce and implement advanced technological solutions in the protection of cultural heritage.
Through this collaboration, the Directorate is adopting state-of-the-art 3D scanning, digital modeling, and visual archiving tools to document, preserve, and showcase invaluable artifacts and historic sites across the province. These innovative methods not only ensure long-term preservation but also provide new opportunities for research, education, and public engagement.
The project marks a significant step forward in aligning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s heritage management with global best practices in digital archaeology, ensuring that the cultural treasures of the region are safeguarded for future generations while being made more accessible to scholars and the general public alike.
